Your shop name deserves more than a flat printed board. With 3D acrylic letters, every character is cut from a solid sheet, stands off the wall and casts its own small shadow. The name reads clearly even from across the road, and it looks built rather than printed.
At Shree Shyam Signages, we cut, finish and install custom acrylic letters for shopfronts, clinics, offices, cafés and homes. You choose the colour, the font and a thickness that suits the wall. Keep them plain for daylight, or add LEDs so they glow after dark. Everything is made in our Kolkata workshop and fixed by our own team.
Send your logo or shop name on WhatsApp. We’ll place it on a photo of your wall and send back a mockup with the price, free of charge.
3D acrylic letters are individual letters cut from solid acrylic sheet, usually 5mm to 25mm thick, and fixed separately to a wall so each one stands out and casts a shadow. Unlike a flat flex or acrylic panel board, they have real depth and can be left plain or lit with LEDs.
A flex board or printed panel is one flat surface. Your name sits on it, not off it. Cut letters work differently. Each character is a separate piece, usually 10mm to 25mm deep, fixed individually to the wall or on small spacers. Light catches the edges, the wall shows between the letters, and the whole sign gains a sense of weight.
If you’d rather have the name on a single backing sheet, our acrylic sign boards cover that. Plenty of clients combine the two, with raised letters fixed on top of a clear or frosted panel.
Solid colour acrylic is where most orders start. The colour runs right through the sheet, so there’s no paint to chip, and we can match most brand colours closely. It’s the most affordable choice and works well indoors and on shaded frontages.
| Type | Look | Best for | Indoor / outdoor | Lighting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solid colour acrylic | Colour runs through the sheet; no paint to chip | Most orders; matching brand colours | Indoors and shaded frontages | Usually non-lit |
| Mirror acrylic | Gold, silver or rose-gold reflective finish | Salons, jewellery shops, boutiques, reception walls | Indoors (sun and rain dull the backing) | Non-lit |
| Frosted acrylic | Soft matte face | Illuminated letters | Indoors and outdoors | Spreads LED light evenly |
| Two-tone acrylic | Different colour on face and sides | Shops on narrow lanes with side-on viewing | Indoors and outdoors | Lit or non-lit |
| Acrylic face + steel/ACP return | Acrylic colour with a tougher body | Walls exposed to full monsoon | Outdoors | Lit or non-lit |
Mirror acrylic gives a gold, silver or rose-gold finish that reflects the room around it. Salons, jewellery shops and boutiques often choose it for the reception wall. Mirror sheet is thin, so we bond it to a thicker acrylic body to build up the depth. We usually keep mirror letters indoors, because direct sun and rain dull the mirror backing over time.
Frosted acrylic has a soft matte face. In daylight it looks understated, and when lit it spreads LED light evenly without bright spots. That’s why it’s our usual pick for illuminated letters.
Two-tone letters have one colour on the face and another on the sides. A white face with red or black returns reads strongly from an angle. That makes a real difference for shops on narrow lanes, where most people approach from the side rather than head-on.
For walls that take the full monsoon, we can pair an acrylic face with a stainless steel or ACP return. You keep the colour of acrylic, with a tougher body to protect it.
Thickness decides how three-dimensional the letters look and how sturdy they feel on the wall.
| Thickness | Works best for | Suggested minimum letter height |
|---|---|---|
| 5mm | Door name plates, small indoor signs | 2 inches |
| 10mm | Reception walls, cabins, home name plates | 3 inches |
| 15mm | Shop interiors, café feature walls | 6 inches |
| 20mm | Shopfronts and fascia boards | 10 inches |
| 25mm | Large frontages and lit letters | 15 inches |
Whether you call them acrylic letters 3D, raised letters or cut-out letters, the most common mistake is ordering them too small. A dependable guide is one inch of letter height for every ten feet of viewing distance. So a name that needs to be read from a footpath sixty feet away should be around six inches tall. Our 3D letters logo signage page has a fuller viewing distance chart, and during the site visit we check the size from where your customers actually stand.
Non-lit letters need no wiring and no maintenance, and they cost the least. They suit office lobbies, interiors and frontages with good street lighting nearby.
| Option | How it looks | Wiring | Best for | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Non-lit | Plain letters with shadow depth | None | Offices, interiors, well-lit streets | Lowest |
| Front-lit | Face glows evenly at night | LEDs inside letters | Shopfronts on busy roads after dark | Higher |
| Edge-lit | Thin glowing outline along edges | LEDs feeding the sheet edge | Cafés, homes, modern interiors | Higher |
Front-lit letters have LEDs inside, with a translucent acrylic face that glows evenly at night. If customers need to spot you from a busy road after dark, this is the option to choose. You can see finished examples on our front-lit signage page.
Edge-lit acrylic sends light through the sheet so it shows along the cut edges, giving a thin glowing outline. It feels softer and more modern, and it’s popular in cafés and homes. Our LED edge-lit and backlit signage section explains how the lighting styles compare.
A simple test: if your shutter stays up past 8pm, go lit. If not, non-lit usually does the job.
The price of 3D acrylic letters is calculated per inch of letter height, per letter. The total depends on the number of letters, their height, sheet thickness, finish, lighting and installation height. Shree Shyam Signages in Kolkata sends an exact quote within a day once you share your design and wall size.
There’s no single rate for acrylic letters, because no two signs are the same size or shape. Most signmakers in Kolkata work out the cost by the inch of letter height, per letter. That means a 12-inch letter costs roughly twice as much as a 6-inch letter in the same material, and the total grows with every letter in your name.
To get a rough idea before you call, count the letters in your name and multiply by the height you want. A shop name with 8 letters at 12 inches high comes to 96 running inches. That figure, along with your choice of material and lighting, is what your quote is built on.
The table below shows how each choice affects your 3D acrylic letter sign board price compared with a basic non-lit letter.
| What you choose | Effect on price |
|---|---|
| Solid colour acrylic, non-lit | The most economical starting point |
| Thicker sheet (20mm and above) | Moderate increase |
| Mirror or two-tone finish | Moderate increase |
| Acrylic face with steel or ACP return | Higher |
| Front-lit or edge-lit LEDs | Higher, depending on letter size |
| Script or very detailed fonts | Adds cutting and mounting time |
| Installation above ground floor | Adds ladder crew or scaffolding cost |
A logo mark is priced separately from the text, and an uneven or old wall may need a backing panel so the letters sit in a straight line. We’ll point these out during the site visit so nothing surprises you later.
The quickest way to know your exact cost is to send us your design, the wall size and whether you’d like lighting. We’ll reply with a quote within a day, often with two material options side by side, so you can weigh the look against your budget before deciding.
In offices, the reception wall is the first thing visitors read, and a company name in raised acrylic behind the front desk sets the tone before anyone says hello. Many of our corporate clients add the logo mark in mirror acrylic and the name in solid colour. Our reception sign boards page shows more layouts.
Cafés and restaurants use acrylic letters for wall features customers photograph: a menu line, a tagline or a neon-style quote in edge-lit acrylic. At home, families order house names, children’s names for bedrooms and short phrases for the living room, usually in 5mm or 10mm sheet.
Clinics, salons and coaching centres tend to put their name on the waiting area wall, where people sit and look at it for twenty minutes at a stretch.
Acrylic letters can be fixed on painted plaster, glass, wooden panelling and tiles. We choose the adhesive and studs to match the surface. If you want a printed backdrop behind the letters, see our wall graphics service.
The process is straightforward, and you only need to be involved at the start and the end.
Any logo file works, AI, CDR, PDF or even a clear phone photo. If it’s low resolution, our designers redraw it as clean vectors.
You receive a preview of the letters on a photo of your own wall, with sizes marked. Changes at this stage are free.
Letters up to 10mm are laser cut, which leaves a naturally polished edge. Thicker sheets go on the CNC router, and our team polishes each edge by hand.
Paint, mirror lamination or LED modules are added, and every lit letter is tested before it leaves the workshop.
Our team fixes the letters using a paper template, so the spacing matches the mockup exactly.
Every letter is cut in our own workshop, which is how we keep edges clean and colours consistent from the first letter to the last. We use UV-stabilised acrylic for outdoor jobs, so colours hold up in Kolkata’s sun. LED modules carry a warranty, and if a section dims later, we come back and fix it.
We also install outside the city, with projects across West Bengal and neighbouring states. You can read about our sign board work in Assam and signage projects in Bihar, or browse the brands we’ve worked with on our clientele page.

It’s based on the height of each letter, the number of letters, the sheet thickness and whether you want lighting. Send us your name or logo with the wall size, and we’ll give you an exact quote, usually within a day.
Non-lit letters cost less, since there’s no wiring or LED work involved. If your business stays open after dark, lit letters are usually worth the extra spend, because they keep your name visible at night.
Yes, provided the acrylic is UV-stabilised. For walls exposed to direct rain, we suggest an acrylic face with a steel or ACP return for added protection.
It depends on the font. Bold block letters can be cut quite small, while thin script fonts need more height so the fine strokes stay strong. We’ll suggest the right size at the mockup stage.
It depends on the size of the order and whether the letters are lit. We confirm the timeline with your quote, and installation is scheduled once you approve the mockup.
Good-quality cast acrylic that is UV-stabilised resists yellowing for many years, even on sunny frontages. Cheaper extruded sheet can discolour faster outdoors, so it’s worth asking your signmaker which grade they use.
Acrylic offers more colours, weighs less and suits interiors and shaded frontages. Stainless steel costs more but handles full sun and rain better and has a more premium metallic look. Many businesses use acrylic inside and steel outside.
Yes. House names, children’s names and short phrases for living rooms are usually made in 5mm or 10mm acrylic, in any colour or mirror finish, and fixed with adhesive so walls don’t need heavy drilling.
Wipe them with a soft microfibre cloth and mild soapy water. Avoid newspaper, rough cloths and glass cleaners that contain ammonia, as they scratch or cloud the acrylic surface.
